Using the assigned text as a guide, respond to the following topics pertaining to California Indians (indigenous peoples of California) and African Americans: Each student will do two 3-page essays BOTH:

(A) Discuss Native Californians challenges brought on by interaction with Spanish, Mexican, and American settlers;

(B) Discuss the growth of the African American population in Los Angeles since the Great Migration and their growing political influence and integration in Los Angeles County.
